A teaser for Switched At Birth, an episode of This American Life. The narrative is about two girls, Martha and Susan, who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital.

My concept is the girls’ ‘rebirth’ after overcoming their trauma and the shock of their revelation. Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, was used as a metaphor to represent the process of rebirth and healing. Broken pottery is similar to the fragmented pieces of our lives. It symbolizes how we must incorporate our wounds into who we are, rather than try to merely repair and forget them.
